From construction showrooms to architectural firms to flight simulators, models are used by nearly everyone to figure out how things work and plan for development. Often models help us understand things which may be hard to see directly. In schools, we use models to understand something as small as DNA’s double helix to something as large as our solar system. In this lesson, we’ll develop and use a model of the groundwater system to discover how important it is to Arizona.

Can your students develop and use a model to deepen their understanding of the groundwater system enough to demonstrate ways to protect and conserve our groundwater?
